About Busy Bee Flowers
My love of flowers has been part of me since I was a very small child. My dear Grandma had a small holding in Devon and grew many different types of flowers, fruit and vegetables as well as having an orchard where we had so many adventures. As a country girl she had great knowledge of the hedgerow and wild flowers which I like to think she passed on to me. I was always trying to make displays from primroses, cowslips, bluebells and twigs, so working with flowers as a business comes naturally. Busy Bee was established in 1987 & prior to owning Busy Bee I worked within the business for two years. Now some 12 years later, I still adore my job and have also picked up awards along the way – “Axminster Business of the Year 2006”.
I’ve been very lucky to have my mum help me in the business, often being the smiley face delivering to our customers. You will see her in the shop from time to time helping with the daily running of the business and being a perfectionist nothing gets past her eagle eye! My other colleague is Sally who has a wealth of experience. She was trained in London at Constance Spry Flower Academy over 40 years ago. Her expertise and knowledge of flowers and plants is second to none and Sally also teaches at our floral arranging workshops which we run three times a year. Sally has a knack for making learning fun and as a result our courses are always full.
